I found Funky Bunch tours and I am so glad I did. Mark and Pip took me to where I wanted to go and showed me places only a local would know. We visited Te Henga, (beautiful black sand beach), some sand dunes and a local brewery with delicious local food and beer. Mark and Pip are genuinely kind, lovely people with lots of knowledge of NZ and the film industry there. A highlight of my unforgettable trip to New Zealand.

Great time
Mark brought the fun. Our tour to Te Henga (Bethells Beach) and the nearby dunes was one of the highlights of our time in New Zealand. Te Henga is absolutely stunning—the black sand beach, powerful waves, and rugged cliffs make it feel raw and untouched. It’s one of those places where you just stop and take it all in. The dunes were just as impressive and a really fun part of the experience. Climbing them was a bit of a workout, but the views at the top were incredible—and heading back down (running or sliding) was honestly a blast. The whole tour was well-paced and gave us plenty of time to explore, take photos, and enjoy the scenery without feeling rushed. If you’re looking for something unique and a little adventurous outside the typical tourist spots, this is definitely worth it. Highly recommend!

Bethell's Beach fascination with Mark
Jan 2026 • CouplesWe had a wonderful and exciting day with Mark. As a local, he took us to the most beautiful places, which we would never have found on our own. Thanks to his open nature, it was never boring; we always had something to talk about. He has a wealth of knowledge about the local area and nature and is happy to share it. When climbing the small mountain, he set a good pace, which even amazed us Swiss.📷📷📷
